"The Fox" - Nickel Creek

The Fox went out on a chilly night
He prayed for the moon to give him light
For he had many a mile to go that night
Before he reached the town-o, town-o, town-o
He had many a mile to go that night
Before he reached the town-o

He ran till he came to the farmers pen
The ducks and the geese were kept therein
He said a couple of you are gonna grease my chin
Before I leave this town-o, town-o, town-o
A couple of you are gonna grease my chin
Before I leave this town-o

He grabbed the great goose by the neck
He threw a duck across his back
And he didn't mind the quack, quack
And the legs all danglin' down-o, down-o, down-o
He didn't mind the quack, quack
And the legs all danglin' down-o

Well the old gray Woman jumped out of bed
Out of the window she popped her head
Cryin' John, John the great goose is gone
The Fox is on the town-o, town-o, town-o
John, John the great goose is gone
And the Fox is on the town-o

He ran till he came to his nice warm den
And there were the little ones 8, 9, 10
Sayin' Daddy, Daddy better go back again
It must be a mighty fine town-o, town-o, town-o
Daddy, Daddy go back again
For it must be a mighty fine town-o

The Fox and his Wife, without any strife
They cut up the goose with a fork and a knife
And they never had such a supper in their life
And the little ones chewed on the bones-o, bones-o, bones-o
They never had such a supper in their life
And the little ones chewed on the bones

(Don't worry ya'll, the girls and Joe are fine. I lock them up every night, safe and sound. This is me attempting some humor... plus it's one of my favorite songs to sing in the car! Pumpkin doesn't find it funny.)

P.S. They're gone!

Well, I'm kinda sad and happy. The baby Mocking Birds have flown the nest! I hear them across the street and see their mom flying above making sure they are ok.

They are doing good.

Life is good.

Growing Up So Fast

This whole week at work, I've been keeping an eye out for a nest of baby Mocking Birds. (Picture was taken on Tuesday this week.)

Mom and Dad are doing a great job at raising the kids.

There are three babies in the nest. (Picture taken on Wednesday this week.)

They're growing up so fast.

Before you know it, they'll be taking their first flight.

I have a funny feeling they're not going to be writing home.

Have a safe, healthy long life little ones!

Christiana, Tennessee

This ride that Brian and I are on, has been and is so emotional, much more than we thought it would be.

Last night we headed to Christiana, Tennessee to a beautiful farm. Brian and I walked around the 31.5 acres just grinning from ear to ear. We feel in love instantly.

We were thinking that this was it!

We're home.

Then we all finally walked into the house and walked right out. The house needed way too much work... and that was putting it nicely.

Nope, it's not the one.

Morning Measuring

Brian measures the pumpkins every morning to make sure they are growing and what rate. This is the one off the secondary plant. I'll get pictures of his prize pumpkin soon!

The Wonderful Thing about Pets

Pets are the greatest source of entertainment. I admit they are lots of hard work but all around rewarding.

This of course is Bubba McCloud.

You would think that these pictures were taken of him before his bath.

Nope, these are actually taken AFTER A BATH!

Can't keep a white dog clean if he doesn't want to be.

Even More Farm Hunting!

This is how our "farm hunting" starts, Brian and I pile our minivan with bottles of water (Mountain Dew if we need the hard stuff), a map, list of farms and directions to each in my lap. We never know what we'll find on each trip.

This trip took us down south to Rutherford and Cannon County. Here in Woodbury Tennessee, we found a DRIVE-IN MOVIE THEATRE!! Moonlite Drive-In:

http://www.southernstarr.com/mov/drivein/

There are two in this area that I know of. The other is in Watertown, built about five years ago or more... Stardust Drive-In:

http://www.stardustdrivein.com/

On our way to one of the farms in Woodbury, we saw an incredibly beautiful creek.

These guys and gals were drinking water from the dirt road further down the road. I've never seen this many butterflies together.

The landscapes were just breath taking. This one was in Liberty Tennesse, just northeast of Woodbury.

Liberty is also where I found a new mechanic! Move over Brian!! Just joking of course sweetie!! Love you Brian!!!

Nothing yet but all round a good trip. The experience we're getting is an eye-opener. Plus, we have gotten to see an even more beautiful side to Tennessee.

Man and Pumpkin

Here's the man and his pumpkin plant. Those two plants are the best plants he's ever grown... in his own words. They have taken over that whole area behind the garage.

The leaves on the main pumpkin plant are huge!

This is the pumpkin Brian would bet money on being the "ONE." He said it has the qualities of being a good big pumpkin. Of course he's taking extra special care for this one.

This is the main vine for the other pumpkin under the peach tree. Brian needs two different plants, one for the main pumpkin growing and the other for the male flowers to cross pollinate.

Here's a pumpkin on that same plant under the tree. He's got another one growing on this plant. You can see it right behind this one.

Brian also has a small bunny family living under these big leaves. Just look, it seems very safe and comfortable under here!!

We're Half Way To A Farm

Sold my house earlier this year, Brian's is now up for sale and we're in search for the new, bigger Seehafer Farm.

In My Chicken's Face

Brian got us a new camera. This camera is just AWESOME!! It's a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX1 Digital Camera. It's 10.2 Mega Pixels, takes full HD movies (1920x1080/60i), outstanding low-light performance, 10-shots-per-second speed control option, panoramic shots and even has a GPS/Compass in it!! The only thing not with the camera is the kitchen sink. The other great thing about it is that it's very compact. The girls and I are still getting use to it... but LOVE IT!!

When you put the camera on "EASY" mode, it does the thinking for you. It knows when it need the flash, which here, I needed the flash.

Now I'll be hanging out more with the girls and Joe taking pictures.
They are so excited... not.

Sunday's Picks

I can't believe anything is growing in this Tennessee heat. Wait, I take that back because my husband with the green thumb is the man in charge! Sunday morning I went out there with my basket in hand and came back with it full, plus more! Some of okra, green peppers and eggplants were ready!!

Two Peas In A Pod

If there ever was a perfect match of man and dog...

these two are it.

They both are always bugging each other, Brian does the bugging more so than Bubba. Case in point...

They are in the dirt, most of the time.

And both are so lovable.

Life would be boring if I didn't have these two.

Family Time

Joe's mom... Madonna

Joe's dad... Mr. Fluffers

And here's Joe!

Thanks again Tess for the pictures!!

Little Joe's Baby Pictures!!

Tess, Joe's first mom, well, I guess it would second mom because Joe's first mother would be his birth mom... anyway, Tess sent me some of Joe's baby pictures.

This is Joe's first mom, Madonna with Joe and his siblings. Madonna is a beautiful Buff Laced Polish. Joe's dad, Mr. Fluffers was a Silkie. Sadly Joe's dad is no longer with us but I heard he was one great rooster. Mr. Fluffers was very much loved by his momma Tess.

I believe this is Joe. He looks at me like that ALL the time!

One of Joe a little older.

They grow up so fast!

We can't wait till Joe and JD have a little family of their own.

Thank you Tess for Joe's baby pictures!!

Under Deck Dwellers

They all unite... dog, chicken, rooster and sometimes cat.

They move to below the massive deck to keep cool in the heat of the day.

They see each other as friends.

Yeah, right!
