Scary Witch!

I love and miss my old neighborhood. On the holidays, everyone decorates with LOTS of imagination. Here's a wonderful witch at a Top O'Woodland Bed & Breakfast. Her hair is made up of branches of leaves and her hat is the roof.

Mad Tootie

This is what Tootie looks like through the kitchen window when I'm late with her breakfast. OK TOOTIE!!!

The Difference Between Dogs and Cats

"If a dog jumps in your lap, it is because he is fond of you; but if a cat does the same thing, it is because your lap is warmer."
- Alfred North Whitehead (1861-1947)

Good Bye Summer Garden

We got the last of the summer veggies from the garden this weekend. Here's the horseradish root and horseradish leaves. The leaves are good in salads.

Watermelon in October?!?! Yes, just not sure how they will be but the girls got the small one and loved it! That's my job, to make the girls happy.

Comfy and Cozy Roost

Sundays are the cleaning day for the girls roost.

With advise from Judy (Nashville Backyard Poultry Meetup Group),

I put more straw in and used milk crates for the nesting boxes.

The girls love their new boxes and we got three eggs in one day!
THANKS JUDY!!

Seehafer Halloween Graveyard

Here's the Seehafer Halloween Graveyard. Every year I try to add a grave in or some fun to scariness! Excuse the camera angle on dear ole' dead Willie but I was trying to get the other graves in the background.

I haven't named this guy yet but he's been the family for three years now.

If I catch the "Raccoon Gang" that killed my fish, they'll be a great addition to the graveyard... joking... kinda.

Driving with Bubba McCloud

Every Monday and Thursday, Bubba and I go to see our AWESOME DOCTORS AND CREW AT VETMED Animal Health. We love them there!!

Bubba is getting Adequan injections for his arthritis in his back legs.

It's working! He's doing much better.

Brian even saw Bubba running around the back yard! He hasn't done that in forever.

This is the face he made after we got our shot, got back in the car and I said "IT'S HAMBURGER TIME!"

It's kinda like "Driving with Mrs. Daisy"!

Monday's Egg

One of my favorite authors, Jon Katz (http://www.bedlamfarm.com/) did a "Daily Egg" photo. He would place the eggs all around his farm to get wonderful shots. Mr. Katz has found a great home for his three chickens and there is no longer "Daily Egg" photos, it's been replaced by "Daily Potholders"... I miss the "Daily Egg." I thought to myself yesterday, I could carry on that tradition. Here is my first weekdays egg... "Monday's Egg."

Other Sunday News!

Guess what I found Sunday when I was cleaning out the girls' roost... OUR TWO FIRST EGGS! (I just thought this was a good picture of the girls. JD is right in the middle of them. She likes to snuggle to get warm.)

The eggs were small and brown in color. One was broken. Brian put that one in the compost pile...

but the other was perfect.

THE PUMPKIN WEIGH IN... Part 2

Ok, it was time to move her. Mind you, there was only Brian and I moving this baby! Here's the half mark. I had to take a break here.

We finally made it to the "Weigh In" location under the swing set, which only took us 30 MINUTES!! I'm saying that with a small amount of sarcasm.

Got the "big girl" on the scale and.... drum roll please...... 450 POUNDS!!! I'm impressed! Tootie, not much so. (Bubba is in the background by the garden boxes and William Jake is right behind Tootie.)

After weighing in, we had to figure out what to do with the ole' girl. Here's what we came up with...

She's part of the "Halloween Graveyard" decorations up front! It looks like she fell on one of the skeletons... I thought it was cute.

THE PUMPKIN WEIGH IN... Part 1

Well, yesterday was THE DAY!

It was time to weigh "the big girl"! Brian is leaving the others on the vine till closer to Halloween.

Here's Brian cutting the pumpkin from the plant vines.

We had to roll her up onto a piece of tarp to move her over to the pulley and weight. Getting her on the tarp was a chore!
