Herbs, Herbs, Herbs!

You know the old saying about not planting anything before April 15th (because of possible freezing)...OK, I'M GUILTY!!  I couldn't wait!  Brian made me do it!!  He said "you could plant SOME your herbs in your garden."  That's all it took!!

It's really only my second year with growing herbs.  I'm a beginner with these wonderfully tasting plants.  I've gotten books to help me out.  They've given me ideas about drying, oils, teas and of course cooking with fresh herbs.

This year we got some Bee Balm, Dill, Sage, Cilantro, Parsley and...
something I've never seen before, Boxwood Basil!  The plant will grow up to 12 to 16 inches.  The aroma of the basil is strong.  It's one of my favorite smells... that and tomato plants.
We've also had some herbs make it through this winter and come back strong...

the Lavender and Catnip plants... (the cats are happy about the Catnip!)
Oregano plant...

Garlic Chives and our Rosemary bush is going strong.
I'm taking a wild guess but I don't think it's going to freeze before April 15th... just a wild guess.

  1. I love your herbs in raised beds! Looks like your rosemary didn't get killed with the cold winter like most did this winter. Great job!

  2. Thank you Julia!! That rosemary is about four years old. I was given to me by a friend who was moving west and I'm not sure how long she had it before me. That bush has been through two moves!

I also love your website! I'll check it out more today.

    Thank you again!
