The pumpkin process

Here is the side view of THE ONE. Brian is going to take us through the process of pumpkin pollination.

Brian uses the male flowers from this plant or from our other pumpkin plant, takes a paint brush and carefully collects the pollen onto the bristles. You can see the pollen on the brush in the picture.

Next, well, he "paints" the pollen on the female plant. Brian makes sure he covers all of the lobes... this one has five lobes.

He then places a bag over the flower/pumpkin to make sure no bees or other insects pollenates it with some other different plant...
